Will child safety education scare my children?

Parents are often concerned that teaching children about child safety will scare them. It is my experience that most children aren't that easily frightened in this area.  I can't tell you how many times I have heard of a child saying that if someone tried to kidnap them, they would "just kick him." 

But rather than being frightening, I believe that Listen to Your Smart Voice is empowering for children.  Yes, there are dangers in the world, but even children are not helpless, because they can think, they can be aware, they can be smart, and that can help them stay safe. 

A child who knows how to listen to his smart voice is also less likely to give in to panic should he end up in real danger.

We don't worry that warning children to stay out of the street will cause them to have nightmares about being run over by a car, because we want to keep them safe, and we know that running out in the street is dangerous. 

The danger from child predators is very real. It isn't just a story on the evening news. It doesn't only happen to other people's children. Child safety education can make the difference between life and death, and its lessons can last well past childhood.
